Crew Change & Marine Personnel Logistics in Nigeria

Crew changes fail when one small requirement is left too late.

What is crew change coordination in Nigeria?

Crew change coordination is the end-to-end movement of personnel joining or leaving a vessel in Nigeria: documentation and immigration coordination, flights and airport meet-and-assist, ground transport, launch-boat transfer where the vessel is at anchorage, accommodation, and any medical or emergency support the movement requires.

Who needs it

Who this service is for

  • ship managers planning scheduled crew rotations
  • owners with an urgent or medical crew movement
  • offshore operators rotating marine and project personnel
  • manning agents needing a Nigerian ground partner
  • vessels changing crew at anchorage rather than alongside

What we coordinate

What Vandyvah coordinates for crew movements

  • crew-change planning
  • sign-on and sign-off coordination
  • immigration coordination
  • visa and document support
  • airport meet-and-assist
  • airport transfers
  • port transportation
  • launch-boat coordination where required
  • hotel arrangements
  • medical coordination
  • emergency crew logistics
  • repatriation support

Get every person to or from the vessel without the movement becoming the reason the vessel waits.

Delay points

What can delay the operation

These are the points where this service most commonly loses time. Each is cheaper to resolve early than late.

  • visas or letters of invitation started too late
  • seafarer documentation that does not match the crew list
  • flight changes that break the port window
  • the vessel schedule moving after transport is committed
  • anchorage transfers affected by weather or launch availability
  • medical or vaccination requirements discovered on arrival

Preparation

What the client should prepare

Have these ready and most of the avoidable delay disappears before it starts.

  • crew list with full names, ranks, nationalities and document numbers
  • passport and seafarer document copies
  • flight itineraries or ticketing authority
  • vessel position, ETA and expected crew-change window
  • any medical, dietary or accessibility requirements
  • authority for local spend and contingency decisions

Operational visibility

How Vandyvah keeps the operation visible

  • a movement plan issued before the crew travel
  • confirmation of documentation status per person
  • live updates through arrival, transfer and boarding
  • immediate escalation if a flight or vessel window moves
  • confirmation once each individual is on board or repatriated

Crew Change — questions we are asked

Can Vandyvah coordinate a crew change at anchorage?
Yes. Anchorage crew changes are coordinated with launch-boat transfer, subject to weather, sea state, port permissions and vessel readiness.
How much notice does a Nigerian crew change need?
Documentation and immigration coordination drive the lead time. The more notice given, the more of the movement can be confirmed before crew are in the air. Urgent and medical movements are handled case by case.
Does Vandyvah handle emergency repatriation?
Vandyvah can coordinate emergency crew logistics, medical coordination and repatriation support in conjunction with the owner, manager, P&I club and relevant medical providers.
